JD Offroad - Ice Pack Update

Not a Bronco but the Ice Pack is a '92 Dodge W250 my company, JD Offroad or on Facebook, built this year to show off our products and fabrication.

We originally intended to sell it but it gets a lot of looks and my business partner, Darell, decided to keep it. So look for it out on the road, the trails, and at Mega Run 2017.

Features included:

- Aussie Locker front and rear locker.  Front was a D44 and rear was a Dana 60. We converted the rear to a 35 spline.
- Rugged Ridge 10,500 lb winch.
- Rugged Ridge front and rear heavy duty diff covers.
- Shortened the frame and added a custom wood bed, tire carrier, roll bar, and front bumper.
- Superlift 5" lift with new springs and shocks. [Edit: we also added a Superlift steering stabilizer]
- 37" Goodyear MT tires [Edit: we added wheel spacers for better clearance even though we also trimmed the body.]

All products available on our website, jdoffroadtexas.com.

  1. Glad you guys decided to hold on to old Ice Pack.
You guys have any issues with Death wobble or bad wheel shimmy? Just curious since you guys used old hummer wheels and old tires balanced with balance beads. Always wondered how stability turned out at highway speeds. No steering stabilizer either if I recall correctly. Also What gears you running in it with those aussie lockers? Just curious. Awesome looking rig for sure. Glad you're not selling it off.

  2. Several people took turns driving it to Mega Run in March and nobody complained about death wobble or wheel shimmy and we ran highway speeds for hours. The biggest on highway complaint was no cruise control.

The balance media worked great and we did add a Superlift steering stabilizer kit; forgot to mentioned that in the post.

Death Wobble can be caused by several things in the steering system but we checked all that out and replaced any worn our parts before we did any off road mods. We

The rear gear is 4.10 and I don't remember what is in the D44 is.
